Q: Is what I will be doing legal?
A: Of course, not only legal but it is your right to do this. It is a right given to you by the Federal Government to stop the harassment. Collection agencies are growing at a rate of almost 25% per year and it is difficult for the government to stay on top of all the new agencies which leads to abuses by many agencies, which overstep the boundaries. The only recourse you have is to learn your rights as a consumer and apply them diligently.
Q: Is this going to get me out of paying my debts?
A: No. If your debts are legitimate then you are going to have to pay them eventually unless you file bankruptcy. What this does is give you some breathing room and get back you peace of mind until you figure out a course of action. Either join a credit counseling service or file bankruptcy so you can get your life back on track.
Q: Will this work in the UK?
A: No, not this particular method. It is designed for the US only.
Q: Will this stop everyone from calling me?
A: If you do exactly as written then the collection agencies MUST stop calling and sending letters. If you keep track of everything and they continue to call you then have a legal course of action against them.
Q: How long will it take to stop receiving calls and letters?
A: That depends on how fast you can get to work and send out letters. Our guess would be 2 weeks at the maximum.
Q: What happens after the calls and letters stop?
A: That is entirely up to you. We suggest you get credit counseling to figure out where your problem areas are and then work to correct those areas before they become a problem again.
Q: Do you give legal advice or representation for my debt problems?
A: No, we do not.
Q: If this is so easy how come everybody is not doing it to stop the harassment?
